Yesterday we drove out to hike Queen Mary Falls. It's about an hour and a half south of Ipswich and inland. Within minutes of leaving Ipswich we were driving in beautiful rural Queensland. It was sunny skies, and the landscape was amazing, very rugged, rolling hills and to Travis' delight lots of cows! Wayne was excited to get out in the truck and we even had our first water crossing, the truck is so much fun.
We stopped for lunch half way to the falls at a place Wayne went to as a child, Lake Moogerah. He went water skiing there as a kid and the lake was a lot smaller then. Since then it dried out completely in the 25 or so years and only refilled recently in the past few years due to heavy rain and floods. It was a cool stop and reminded me a lot of inner BC.
Lake Moogerah
After our pic nic stop, we made our way through winding, up and down, and rugged roads.
There are so many ferns everywhere, it reminded me of the movie, Fern Gully.
HI COWS!!!!
Getting a bit of altitude and in amongst the clouds
A stop at Carr's look out

Rock jumping
So many ferns, it had such a rainforest feeling, I loved it there
Sensory time: Travis enjoyed feeling the different grasses, mosses, and barks.
Carved the boys initials in a tree, hopefully we'll see them next time we go, sorry nature.
Love these boys.
Another amazing family photo, ha ha
Cool roots
Sunset on the drive home.
What an awesome day. Made us keen for more exploring and adventures! Nothing better than getting the boys out in nature. Until our next adventure, hope everyone has happy days!
